Family days out in Pembrokeshire

There is so much to do in Pembrokeshire, from beach days to boat trips, shopping arts & crafts and exploring pretty seaside villages.  But if you fancy a change from the coastline or the weather doesn’t suit a day outdoors, here are are few alternative family days out in Pembrokeshire. The Bug Farm

The Bug Farm in St Davids is a great local business with lots to see and do. It includes a lovely café/restaurant called the ‘Grub Kitchen’ with an interesting menu – stick to something familiar or try a bug burger or cricket hummus!

Hilton Court Gardens & Tea Rooms

We love this place. It’s great for all of the family but especially so if you have young children. The gardens and woodland are magical – with little huts and wooden houses for the children to explore. There is also a super café and a restaurant on site, plus a lovely pottery, picture gallery and shop to browse so lots of opportunities to pick up a Pembrokeshire souvenir.

Castell Henllys Iron Age Fort

Castell Henllys is a reconstructed Iron Age hill fort. Archaeological excavation of the site has enabled the National Park Authority to realistically reproduce life as it was over 2000 years ago. Folly Farm

Folly Farm is another favourite day out for families. It continues to win national awards year on year and improve and expand upon its offering to visitors. It has an indoor barn with lots of animals and activities, a zoo, an indoor fairground and numerous indoor and outdoor play areas. Definitely worth a visit.

Manor Park

Manor Park offers lots of wildlife to see, daily talks from staff about creature habits and an indoor play area.

Dinosaur Park

The Dinosaur Park near Tenby, home to a 1 km dinosaur trail and lots of different outdoor areas, suiting children of all ages from toddlers to teenagers.

Oakwood Theme Park

Wales’ biggest theme park, filled with thrills and excitement for children and adults alike!

Heatherton World of Adventure

Pembroke Castle

Pembroke Castle and Carew Castle both offer great days out for the family. Explore the ancient castles and take part in once of their many planned events for children.
